For the cupcakes: 1 box white cake mix 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup vegetable oil 4 egg whites or 3 whole eggs For the frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter softened 4 cups powdered sugar 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pinch of salt red, white, and blue star sprinkles for decorating
Preheat oven according to cake mix directions and line a muffin tin with white cupcake liners.
