½ - 1teaspooncayenne pepperto add more spice, if desired
1 1/2tablespoonsblack sesame seeds
6ounceslightly packed mini marshmallowsabout 3 cups
4tablespoonsbutter
1/4cup(+2 tablespoons) furikake
Instructions
Line a 9”x9” baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease with oil or butter.
In a large bowl, mix together the Rice Krispies and the rice crackers.
Pour the sesame seeds into a small pan. Heat on medium for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly toasted (you should be able to smell them toasting). Remove them from the pan right away so they don’t continue cooking.
In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Once fully melted and starting to turn a light golden color, turn off the heat. Immediately pour the marshmallows into the pot and start stirring. Stir continuously until the marshmallows have melted. Add the sesame seeds and stir to combine.
Pour the Rice Krispies/Rice Cracker blend into the pot. Top with ¼ cup of the furikake. Quickly stir and fold until everything is combined.
Transfer it to the prepared baking dish. Place a small sheet of parchment paper over the cereal mixture and pack the mixture down into the pan. You can also grease your hands to do this, if you want. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the remaining furikake over the top. Let cool for 10 minutes, then pull the entire block of Rice Krispies treats out of the pan and turn it over. Sprinkle on the final 1 tablespoon of furikake.
