Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or brioche work well)
  • 5-6 slices salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 4 ounces whipped cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries hulled and halved
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon & sugar optional, for dusting

Instructions

  • Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut hearts out of each slice of bread. Save the scraps for croutons or breadcrumbs!
  • Lightly butter both sides of the heart-shaped pieces and toast them on a griddle or in a toaster until golden brown.
  • Place whipped cream cheese, jams, honey, and spreads into small bowls for easy serving.
  • Wash and slice the strawberries, leaving some whole for decoration. Rinse the raspberries as well.
  • Arrange the toasted hearts on your serving board, leaving space for the toppings.
  • Place bowls of spreads and fresh fruit around the toast. Add decorative touches like a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a few edible flowers to enhance the Valentine’s theme.

Notes

Mix and match items on your toast board as you wish. It's very customizable. Get creative.
