Puff Pastry Sausage Roll

Sausage rolls come in many different variations and we love them all, but this recipe keeps it easy by using puff pastry and a quick mix of sausage and seasonings for the filling.

Helpful Tips

  1. Choose Quality Sausage: For the best flavor, select high-quality sausage that you enjoy. You can use pork, chicken, or even turkey sausage, depending on your preference. If you want to add extra flavor, consider using sausages with herbs or spices, or even mixing in some grated cheese or chopped herbs into the sausage filling for added depth.
  2. Keep the Puff Pastry Cold: To achieve that perfect flaky texture, make sure your puff pastry is kept cold until you’re ready to use it. If the pastry becomes too warm, it can become difficult to handle and may not puff up as nicely during baking. If needed, you can briefly chill the assembled rolls in the refrigerator before baking to ensure they maintain their shape.
  3. Brush with Egg Wash: For a beautiful golden-brown finish, brush the tops of your sausage rolls with an egg wash made from beaten egg mixed with a splash of water or milk. This will give your rolls a shiny, appealing appearance once baked. You can also sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top before baking for added flavor and texture.
