There’s nothing quite like pulling a tray of golden, puffed crescent dough out of the oven and catching that first whiff of buttery pastry wrapped around a snappy little sausage, it’s the smell of instant party mode.

Pigs in a blanket

They’re endlessly crowd-pleasing, whether you’re serving them at a game day spread, a holiday party, or just a fun family snack night. Best of all, this recipe makes a generous 24 pieces, so there’s plenty to go around (though don’t be surprised if they disappear in minutes).

Helpful Tips

  • Pat the sausages dry: If your cocktail sausages or little smokies came packed in liquid, blot them with a paper towel first so the dough can seal around them properly instead of sliding off during baking.
  • Don’t skip the egg wash: Brushing on that beaten egg is what gives these their gorgeous golden-brown shine, so make sure you coat the tops evenly for the best bakery-style finish.
  • Watch them closely near the end: Ovens vary, so start checking at the 13-minute mark. You want the dough puffed and deeply golden, but pull them before the tips start to overbrown.
